Friends And Lovers by "Spider" John Koerner and Willie Murphy
Transcribed by G.Ridout 1/7/10. Updated 1/14/2010 7:15AM
(3/7/2010 for lower key (A) see below)
To match the record pitch, capo 2.
I think these chords are close but maybe not exactly right in a couple of spots!
Timing: [4 beats] (2 beats)

There's a piano and bowed-bass intro I'm not going to deal with here. Corrections? Email me.

1st verse

[CM7] What more do you [B7] need
Can't you (CM7)see that she (B7)doesn't fit the [Em] dream
She don't [Am7] care if you [Gm] leave her
[Dm7] You don't need to try to [CM7] hang on

Hmmm [B7] mmm (B7) chilly [G] wind from a [C7] sometime
(C7) lover, not what you [F9] had in mind
Like-a [B7] everything ever laid [Em] bare
Wo-[A7] oh [A7] Time to change your [B7] ways [B7]

2nd verse
[CM7] Some soon [B7] mornin' comes a (CM7) first snow
(B7) Puttin' me in a [Em] dream
In the [Am7] grey light of black and [Gm] white day
[Dm7] Nothin' in the way-[CM7] yay

Woh-[B7] oh (B7) friends and [G] lovers have got each [C7] other
(C7) after noon is [F9] fine with me,
[B7] easy dreams and an [Em] empty room
[A7] Woh yeah [A7] what more could I [B7] need [B7]

Instrumental just like verse

Am7

Dm7
(same as Am7 above but on 10th fret)

Somewhat like the Am7 shape shown, but fret the 4th string (one fret lower) with index finger and damp the 6th string with the tip of your 2nd finger (or fret both 5th and 6th if you can) .
Yeah - I know, easier said than done, here's the photo.

Check guitar chord sites like this one for other ways to play these chords.

A sweet progression from the album Running Jumping Standing Still
by "Spider" John Koerner and Willie Murphy

Lots of good songs on that album BTW, not a loser in the bunch.
This page on John's official site mentions JK recordings that the Doors based Love Me Two Times on. I gotta check that out!

Let's try it down just a bit, to be easier to sing. I might even have to try down one more step from this.
But AM7 chords nicely as x06650, flows nicely into the G#7 barred on 4th fret.
