4/10/10 A Pileated pair passes through. They didn't stick around, I was lucky to get this shot through the kitchen window.
Downy (left) and Hairy (right) Woodpeckers Christmas morning 2008. Half-inch grid suet cage, combined photo (about ten minutes apart) taken through two rather dirty panes of glass.
The Downys are always here but we see the Hairy infrequently.
4/5/2009 Since I last wrote he's become such a regular visitor that I now wonder if there aren't two. No female in ages though.
Red-breasted Nuthatch Sept. '07, a delightful little character, we don't see these as often as the whites but last year (07-08) we had a pair stay all winter.
White-breasted Nuthatch Not so sharp a shot but a characteristic position of a common year-round visitor, Sept. '07.
Red-bellied Woodpecker Dad feeding a youngster, June '07. A regular year-round visitor. I thought I'd see what happened if I
animated this.
Female Northern Flicker
A bit fuzzy but clear enough to tell it's a female, male has prominent "moustache".
This was a print scan, so I'd guess it was taken sometime in the 1990s.
